Sisu credits for Aalto students

The ECTS are registered in Sisu once a month before the graduation deadlines.

  1. Make sure you have signed up for the correct course on Sisu and complete the course according to the deadlines below.
    • In the case of Future of Work / Työn tulevaisuus course, register on Sisu according to the language version you completed. ECTS cannot be registered for the wrong language version.
  2. If you complete the course after the deadline, the credits will be registered next month.
  3. You do not have to send a certificate or apply for the ECTS separately.
    • Note that assignments are not graded on the platform. The grades are submitted directly to Sisu on a pass/fail scale.

The courses on this site will be removed from the degree curriculum at the end of July.
If you want to receive ECTS for them, complete the course(s) by 31st July 2024.

* The emails regarding the completion of the reflection task “Radical career creativity – using intuition and design” will be checked and handled before exporting the completed courses and registering ECTS.

Enrolment

I am not a Aalto degree student, how do I enrol on a course?

Register here to create an account. After logging in, click on the course you want to enrol on, and press ‘Take this Course’ on the left. The course includes a free Certificate with a unique verification code that you can download after completing the course.

We have stopped giving out official study transcripts for free for students from other Finnish higher education institutions as of December 1st 2023. You can ask your home university whether they accept the certificate for credit transfer.

I am an Aalto student. How do I enrol on a course?

To receive ECTS and a Certificate, enrol in your preferred course on Sisu. Please see the Aalto University Sisu guide for more information on registering for courses through Sisu.

After enrolling through Sisu, register here to create an account. After logging in, click on the course you want to enroll in, and press ‘Take this Course’ on the left.

If you only want to receive a Certificate without ECTS, don’t enrol on the course on Sisu. After completing the course, you can download the Certificate on the Future of Work platform.

I will do my exchange studies at Aalto University, can I take the course?

Absolutely! You can follow the enrolment instructions for Aalto degree students.

Studying

How long does it take to complete a course?

The courses are worth 2 ECTS which means approximately 50 hours of study time.

How much time do I have to complete a course?

Once you have registered for the course, you have six months time to complete it.

Are there any prerequisites for the courses?

There are no prerequisites, anyone can take our open online courses!

I have enrolled on the course on Sisu, but I can’t find the course from MyCourses.

The open online courses are not available on MyCourses. You will find all of the learning materials from the futureofwork.fi platform!

What are the requirements for completing the course?

Future of Work, Finland Works and Design a Meaningful Career
The courses are divided into five (5) chapters. Each chapter is divided into sections. After each section, there is either a quiz or an open-ended assignment so that you can reflect on what you have learned. 

How many questions do I need to get right to complete a quiz?

Each quiz has 10 multiple-choice questions. To pass each quiz you need to get 70 % of the questions right. You can take each quiz three (3) times. 

Do I have to access all the course materials to complete the course?

The Future of Work course contains one article that is not freely available on the internet. If you have access to the library services through Aalto University or your own home university you will be able to access this piece of reading material. It is possible to pass the course without reading this piece of material, but if you want the full learning experience you can buy the material from the publisher.

Are the videos mandatory to watch in order to complete the course?

The videos work as complements to each course chapter, and you should watch them to complete the course.

Are there video lectures or other materials tied to a place or time?

No, all of the material is on the site and it consists of text and links to other sites. You can complete the course from any place and at any time you want.

I have completed the course but I haven’t met the passing grade. Can I retake the course?

If you have not received a passing grade, please get in touch with Student Support (Finnish, Swedish and English).

Certificate and credits

I have passed the online course, where is my certificate?

Once you have completed the course, you can download your Certificate from the front page of the course and from the My Courses tab in the Future of Work platform. Read more about the Certificates.

When and how are the ECTS registered to the Sisu system?

ECTS on the completed courses are registered to the Sisu system once a month, at the end of the month. The credits can only be registered for students who have signed up for the course on Sisu.

If you have signed up for the course as an Aalto University student on the Future of Work platform, we have your student number, and you don’t have to take any special measures to register for the ECTS once you have completed the course successfully.

How can I add my certificate on LinkedIn?

To add the Certificate to your LinkedIn profile, click here and fill in the following details:

  • Certification name: [Course name] online course
  • Certification authority: Aalto University

Issues with the site

I have submitted an assignment but the site does not show my progress nor my submission.

Some students have experienced this issue. All submissions are saved on the platform and can be marked complete manually by student support once you have studied the whole course. Just contact the student support (Finnish, Swedish and English) when you are ready. We apologise for the inconvenience!

I have completed all the assignments, but I can’t download my certificate.

Check that you have marked the chapter text pages completed. Each page should have a button at the end of the page. Contact student support (Finnish, Swedish and English) for manual completion if you still cannot complete the course.
