I am not an Aalto student, how do I enrol on a course?
Register here to create an account. After logging in, click on the course you want to enrol on, and press ‘Take this Course’ on the left. You can choose to either audit the course for free or pay a course fee during or after completion of the course. The price of one course is 90€ (incl. VAT 24%) and it includes a Certificate with a unique verification code and 2 ECTS from Aalto University.
I am an Aalto student, how do I enrol on a course?
In order to receive ECTS and a free Certificate, start with enrolling on your preferred course through Sisu. For more information on registering for courses through Sisu, please see the Aalto University Sisu guide. After enrolling through Sisu, register here to create an account. After logging in, click on the course you want to enrol on, and press ‘Take this Course’ on the left.
Are there any prerequisites for the courses?
There are no prerequisites, anyone can take our open online courses!
How long does it take to complete a course?
The courses are worth 2 ECTS which means approximately 50 hours of study time.
I have passed the online course, where is my certificate?
Once you have completed the course, you will be guided to a landing page from where you can order your Certificate by paying the course fee of 90€ (incl. VAT 24%). Your electronic certificate will be emailed to you within one week upon completing the course and paying for the course fee. Once paying for the course fee, you can also apply for 2 ECTS from Aalto University. For Aalto degree students who have enrolled through Sisu, the Certificate and ECTS will be sent automatically.

How can I earn ECTS credits?
When you pay for the course fee, you also register for a single-course non-degree study right at Aalto University. The non-degree study right and your Aalto University student account will be active for 6 months from the date of purchase.
You will receive instructions for activating your Aalto University student account within two weeks of paying for the course fee. The student account can be used to gain access to the Aalto University Library Services for the full course materials. ECTS credits will be recorded once you have successfully completed the course. In order to gain ECTS credits, the course must be completed 6 months from the date of registration.
How much time do I have to complete a course?
Once you have registered for the course, you have six months time to complete it.

Do I have to access all the course materials to complete the course?
In the free version of the course, some of the “Must Read” materials (e.g. articles) might have limited access. In order to pass all assignments, you are expected to read all materials. When you pay for the course fee, you get access to all course materials, including resources at Aalto University Library. If you only want to read and view the course content without getting a Certificate and ECTS, you can audit the course for free.
What are the requirements for completing the course?

The courses are divided into five (5) chapters. Each chapter is divided into sections. After each section, there is either a quiz or an open-ended assignment so that you can reflect on what you have learned. To pass each quiz you need to get 70 % of the questions right. You can take each quiz three (3) times.

Are the videos mandatory to watch in order to complete the course?
The videos work as complements to each course chapter, and you should watch them to complete the course.
Are there video lectures or other things tied to a place or time?
No, all of the material is on the site and it consists of text and links to other sites. You can complete the course from any place and at any time you want.
I have completed the course but I haven’t met the passing grade. Can I retake the course?
